Homeschool Prom - May 18, 2008 Join homeschoolers throughout the state for a very special night - created just for homeschoolers!
The Homeschool Prom of 2007 was a great success with over 150 teens in attendance. We are expecting an equally exciting prom in 2008!
DATE: Sunday, May 18, 2008
TIME: 7:00-11:00 p.m.
PRICE: $25 per person ($30 at the door)
Ticket price includes entrance to the dance, dessert buffet, and refreshments. Please use the order form below and mail it in as soon as possible to order your tickets. To ensure delivery of your ticket, your request must be postmarked by May 8, 2008.
WHERE: The Northstar Ballroom, 635 North Killingsworth Court in Portland. Located in North Portland, near the PCC Campus with easy I-5 access, just 10 minutes from downtown & 5 minutes from Lloyd Center. The ballroom will be beautifully decorated for a special night to remember! Visit the ballroom website at

WHO: The Homeschool Prom is for homeschoolers 14 years old through high school age. Dates are not required. If you do bring a date, your date does not have to be a homeschooler (but still at least 14
years old). One person in a "couple" needs to be a homeschooler. Bring your friend, or a date, and have the night of your life surrounded by homeschoolers throughout throughout Oregon & southern Washington.
MUSIC: A variety of dance music will be provided by DJ Justin! (All music will be profanity free.)
DINING: There are many restaurants close by for those who want to go out to dinner beforehand.
PARKING: There should be plenty of street parking on a Sunday evening and also, PCC has allowed us to use their parking lot that is adjacent to the ballroom.
DRESS: To make this a truly special occasion, dress is formal. (No jeans, t-shirts, or tennis shoes) See cost-cutting hints below.
PHOTOGRAPHY: Prom Photos will be provided by Black Box

The following photo packages include shipping:
- Box A: $20 for 8 wallets
- Box B: $20 for 4-4x6's
- Box C: $20 for 2-5x7's
- Box D: $20 for 1-8x10
- Box E: $45 for 2-8x10's, 2-5x7's, 8-wallets
Group photos (from box F) will be available for you to take home with you:
- Box F: $5/ea. Groups of 3 or more - one 4x6 for each person
GUIDELINES: To make the dance comfortable and safe for everyone, the following will not be allowed:
- re-entry privileges to the dance
- horse play
- running
- making out
- inappropriate dancing
SCHOLARSHIPS: Scholarships may be available for those who require additional financial assistance. Please email Diana with your request at

CHAPERONES: There will be plenty of chaperones on hand. If you are interested in being a chaperone, please email Diana at mom@blackboxphotography.com.
HINTS: You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a prom dress or a new suit. Here are a few ideas:
- Check out sale racks and use department store coupons
- Visit Nordstrom Rack to find lots of good deals
- Try upscale clothing consignment shops
- Prom attire can be purchased on ebay
- Check out Goodwill
- Make your own dress
- Borrow a friend's dress
- For a free Prom dress check out Abby's Closet at
www.abbyscloset.org (They collect used prom dresses and give them to those in need)
NEED A PLACE TO STAY? If you live outside the Portland Metro Area and need a place to stay after the dance before continuing home the next day, please consider staying with a homeschool family. We have several families that can offer their homes. These families love teenagers and want to help you have a fun weekend. We are looking forward to seeing a lot of teens from outside the Portland Metro Area attend the OHEN dances and want to make your visit here as fun, trouble-free and inexpensive as possible.
